LASER SKIN RESURFACING OR LASER PEEL
This procedure uses a laser to remove the scarred areas of the skin in order for the new skin to form. It is known that laser resurfacing is promising as the laser penetration into the skin is more controlled compared to other procedures. With the use of local anesthesia, the procedure can take 30 minutes and an hour or more for larger scars and the procedure is done on outpatient basis. Redness on the face will appear and can last for several weeks. You may also experience swelling, oozing, discomfort, hyperpigmentation and hypopigmentation. Some risks in undertaking laser skin resurfacing would include burns and injuries related with the heart of the laser, scarring and infection.
This procedure freezes tissues with the use of very cold nitrogen through a sprayer or a cotton ball. Initially, you will feel numbness. There will also be color changes in your skin and it may become dark, red and swollen. The healing process may take 1 to 3 weeks and repeat procedures may be required until you will get your desired result.
PUNCH EXCISION, ELEVATION AND GRAFTING
Punch Excision is a surgical removal of icepick or deep boxcar scars with the use of punch biopsy tool. The scar is excised and the skin edges are sutured together.
Punch Elevation is the method of elevating the excised base to the surface of the skin and attached with sutures or with dermabond. This is applicable to deep box scars with sharp edges.
Punch Grafting- this procedure removes the scar and skin usually from the back of the ears replaces it. Deep scars are good for this procedure. The sutures are removed after 1 week and complete healing may take 6-8 weeks.
